Welcome to the Resource Centre for Alternate Media and Assistive Technology (RCAMAT) which is the main centre of the College of Education Studies in the University of Cape Coast, with a team of Resource persons and Assistants to assist students with disabilities to participate fully in University of Cape Coast's classes, programmes and services as they pursue personal, vocational and educational goals
University of Cape Coast adopted support programmes for students with disabilities since 1962 when it was established. However the university started admitting students with disabilities since the 1979/1980 academic year when the Resource Centre for the Visually Impaired was established to give students with visual impairment the needed academic support. It began as a collaboration and cooperation with the Special Education Unit of the Ghana Education Service and the University of Cape Coast since the staff were provided and paid by GES but were later absorbed by the university in 2004 as permanent staff, following a directive from the government.
